Eve of Destruction

- report by kazu -

I arrived in Leipzig shortly before 7, still a bit confused as the whole day had been quite stressful so far. Fortunately some friends of mine were picking me up at the train station and we could try to find the Lagerhof together. This was not exactly the easiest task as that venue is situated in an industrial district which gives the impression as if it was forbidden to enter from the outside. Something like that. When we had finally found out that it was inside that district, the other problem was to find the actual Lagerhof, as the whole district was called so. But we succeeded after asking a few people about the right way.

When we entered the club there weren't so many people yet, though most sofas and chairs were already occupied ._. The club itself was not very big, but it was quite comfortable. Except for the fact that it didn't seem to have any heating, and it was therefore really cold inside. It was also quite dark here, some areas -especially those around staircases- were maybe a bit too dark. The waiting time passed more or less quickly, and Eve of Destiny came to the club shortly after 10, as far as I remember.

There were still not this many people, but it was quite pleasant that absolutely everyone who was there behaved in a really civilized way. The audience was "normally" goth for the greatest part (means no visual kei people.. or they could just hide it well and behave normally ;P ) so Eve of Destiny could go through the club like normal people without being jumped at or something like that.

They began playing after a short sound check; Nervous and Innocence. But please don't ask me about the exact song order, I'm not good at remembering such things. This live had a very special atmosphere like I haven't really experienced it before. It was very familiar, and you could have almost thought it was a private gig. But still the area in front of the stage was pretty full of dancing people so you didn't have much space there although you could also get to the first row without bigger problems if you wanted (there weren't any "rows", actually). Going further back there were some more people, but the two places were divided by a stair, so you had to decide whether you wanted to stand further up or down.

For me it was a very intense experience to be in the very front of an EoD gig once again. It was just very different from the previous 2004 gigs. It felt like they played with lots of power, although I *think* Közi missed the right accords sometimes ;P and they had to go through minor technical probs again. But that didn't really do any harm, and I think the audience had a lot of fun.

Too little time passed until they finished (isn't it always like that?), again with You killed me First. But although it was a small audience, they were quite good at demanding an encore, and so we got to hear Eve of Destruction too, fortunately. Afterwards they went upstairs to the backstage area; then eventually Yuko came back and asked me to join them up there... later my friends followed, so I don't know what the autograph session was like. Anyway, it didn't take very long and I guess it was civilized too. I can't repeat often enough how civilized and peaceful everything was and how much I enjoyed that ^^""""

Sometime around 2am they decided to go back to their hotel, and so the club could close.... once again the taxi was late, so they had to use a very cute little car instead ;) Instead of also going to sleep, we went back to the train station and -you won't believe it- waited for our trains. That was it, I couldn't believe how fast time had passed once again. I hope I can see them again soon next year, I'm already looking forward to that.
