Éppen ezért valószínű, hogy a kontinens első lakosai nem a Bering-szoros átkelésre használhatatlan jegén érkeztek, hanem tengeri migráció révén, jóval délebbre.

Tézisét alátámasztja, hogy a professzor 20 ezer évvel ezelőtti, észak felé történő emberi terjeszkedés nyomait találta meg a japán szigetek és az orosz Kamcsatkai-félsziget között. Ugyancsak őt látszanak igazolni azok a tanulmányok, amelyek Amerika legrégibb lakóinak genetikai örökségét vizsgálja, az eredmények ugyanis hasonlóságot mutatnak az ősi japán és tibeti lakosság génjeivel."
